Ash Shihr old city surrounded by clayey wall 4.50 m height approx. and thickness from 1.00 to 1.50 m and people can walk over it. The wall started form the sea at south west of the city to north with a West gate called AL KHOOR GATE then the wall going to east direction parallel to the sea with a North Gate called AL AIDATOOS GATE, then the wall going to sea direction at south to close the city from east side.
No body allowed to enter the at night because the doors of the tow Main Gate at West and North of the city closed at 6:00 pm up to morning time.

The 2 GATE’s at west and north of the city still up to date except some part of the west Gate “” AL KHOOR GATE “” was destroyed during the past period. They are a sample of Yemeni Islamic gate with very nice architecture view and security function.

AL AIDAROOS GATE : The name related to Al Aydaroos mosque near to the gate at north side of the city.
AL KHOOR GATE: The name related to the place where it’s at west side of the city.

Each of the 2 gate’s containing 3-levles as follows :
The Ground Floor:
Containing entrance with dimension 3.0 m wide and 4.50 m hight (Approx.), This intrance closed by a thick main door containing 2 wings from wood with size 1.50 m x 3.0 m and the front face covered with a steel sheet and big sharp nails covered all the face, There is a small door through one wing of the main for person entrance. At each side of the entrance there is rooms and corridor and staircase to the first and second floor.
The First Floor :
Containing one main room over the entrance at the middle and 2- rooms with toilet at left and right of main room. There is an exit from each side connect the gate building with the WALL a round Ash Shihr city.
The Second Floor :
There is 2 – rooms at south and east corner of the gate building and parapet wall 1.50 m height surrounding the remaining area.
